Geneva, 29 March 2025 – With the launch of the Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) pre-voting enrollment for Internet Voting on March 24, the Philippine Consulate General hosted representatives from various Filipino community associations for an informative presentation on the pre-voting enrollment process. The session was led by Consul General Felipe Cariño III and Consul Luningning Camoying-Valdez.

The hour-long activity aimed to familiarize the community with the new internet-based voting system and emphasized the importance of pre-voting fenrollment for registered voters. Several attendees succcessfully completed their enrollment during the session. The Consulate hopes to replicate this initiative in smaller groups across different community organizations to broaden participation.

More than 30 community leaders from Ugnayan Bayan, the principal association of Filipino organizations led by Mr. Gerry De Rama, expressed appreciation for the presentation and the assistance provided to members during the enrollment process.

Some attendees raised concerns regarding alternative Philippine IDs that could be presented in place of a Philippine passport; potential human error during enrollment; confirmation of a successful enrollment; and technical issues related to the photo capture.

With approximately 2,100 registered overseas voters in Geneva and Lausanne, the Consulate General is targeting a high percentage of enrollments to the online portal before April 13 when the month-long overseas voting officially begins. Historically, Geneva has consistently rmaintained a strong voter turnout, underscoring the Filipino community’s continued commitment to democratic participation.
